Adventures in the Drive Thru

I am going to try and do a weekly entry about my adventure at the Fast Food Drive Thrus.  I have embarassing, comical things happen to me.  I dont know how many people can say the same.  HA!

So here is entry 2 I will count bad customer service as the first.

In June was my niece Cookie's first dance recital or Big Show they call it.  Anyway with that stated we my whole family minus one pile into the family mini van.  We are a family that when we are hungry, we are Grouchy.  We also have extremely picky eaters so finding even a fast food place we can agree on can be trying.  With out further to do here is entry #2.

We are driving down south Denver to go to the Big Show and grab some grub first.  We finally settled for a KFC and A&W.  Of course Tyler my nephew will not eat it so he hops out of the car and walks to McDonald's across the parking lot.  Have you ever tried to order at a Drive Thru for 6 picky people.  I order Cookies meal first  complete with a Root Beer,  Continue through the car and then get to Nephew Collin and he asked "Do they have Root Beer?"  This was followed by the quick response of his Sister Ariel no they only have Mountain Dew.  I in all the confusion and my literal attitude towards things holler into the microphone.  "Do you have Root Beer?"  This is followed by awkward silence of the man trying to take the order in between grumpy yelling in the car and now uncontrollable laughing.  He finally answers "yes we do."  I finish the order we go to the window and pay.

Ok so there is couple of funny things here first off I had already ordered one root beer and secondly we were at  A&W.  Thirdly in all the confusion I forgot to order my own food.  This happens often and I cannot figure out why but I think I am going to start ordering my food first.  HA!!

So we then head over to McDonald's to pick up Ty and order some food for me.  We see Tyler drive in the opposite direction.  Of course it is one way but he does not realize this and thinks we forgot him. That only happened once but he does not let us forget.  I buy everyone's food and the grouchiness is ended as quickly as it began

Adventures of a Redhead...Lift your Foot

My BFF Mandi is my inspiration of this blog.  She encouraged me to start it and is a co-conspirator in my life.  She is my business partner when I dream sometimes ever so reluctantly but she is always there for me in some capacity.  Together we are Ethel and Lucy, Laverne and Shirley, Stephanie and Lula.

You get the idea right?

A few years ago I very excitedly bougth myself a sewing machine.  I took Home Economics in the 7 and 8th Grades but had not really sewn since.  Mandi bless her heart as always was trying to help me. She set up my machine showed me how to thread it.  She had me trying to sew I dont even know what if anything.  She looks at me and says "Rach lift your foot. Then repeats it a couple times.  I then look at her and says I am what do you want me to do with it.
She looks at me confused then looks down at my feet.  There I am with my free non sewing foot raised up.  She laughs and says no the sewing machine foot.  For those of you who dont sew the pedal/foot of the machine that makes it go the one you step on.  As she ever so patiently explains this to me we both laugh.

Mandi never makes me feel like a dummy in my ever so literal way of thinking.  I am sure sometimes I am a real Amelia Bedelia because I can be so literal that I might just some day sit down and draw the blinds at 4 o'clock.

A LOUD POP...

All right, so here is one of the most embarrassing moments in my recent history.  Dramatic I think not...

I was at church Sunday and picked up my little niece that I will refer to here as cookie.  Her Sunday school teacher one of the sweetest ladies I know sent her home with a balloon.  I know you are wondering what is so embarrassing about a balloon.  Well first off we had not been to service and so a 4 year old plus an already blown up balloon spells disaster.

We were half way through service and everything was going well.  We stood up to sing for the Gospel and I sat down.  POP...Yes that is right it was me not the 4 year old and right before the sermon.  I might have gotten away with no one knowing it was me if not for my family pointing and laughing.

I was purple and wanted to crawl beneath the pew.  Sigh This stuff can only happen to me.

Bad Customer Service....Bad

Maybe I have worked in Customer Service too long that I expect more.  I recognize that a lot of bad service goes back to training and experience. With that said here is a humorous recount of a recent experience at the drive thru of a MacDonald's.

My BFF and I were out for one of our late night cruises.  It is our time to relax and catch up away from our daily stresses and families.  We decide we want a midnight snack.  Not a lot is open so we pull in to a brand new Beautiful  MacDonald's.  Here is what happened.

XYZ: Thanks you picking MCd's this XYZ can I help ya:

Me:  Yes I would like...

XYZ: Wait our system is not working we cannot take no plastic you got cash.

( kind of chuckle at the bad grammar and rudeness)
Me: Uh ya I have cash and place order.
(keep in mind our orders are special my BFF never gets Ice in her Sweet tea, my burger is always plain we can be difficult.)
XYZ: I like have your total at the first window.

XYZ: It is 4.89

Me: I hand him a 5.

XYZ: Hold on a sec we think system is coming up.

Me:  OK it has been 3 minutes and there is a line behind us can I have my 11 cents?

XYZ: looks at his manager they want there money. (runs to front of store)

(Drive up to next window employee is feverishly scrubbing something)

Me:  Excuse me....hello Can you help me? (kid is continues scrubbing and ignores me)

Me: Hello (manager is standing in the back ground laughing...Is he deaf?)

XYZ: We don't have no Sweet Tea...you want something else?

BFF:  We want our money, we have been ignored, the manager is laughing we want our money.

XYZ:  They want their money? (manager in the background What did they get?)

BFF:  It does not matter what we got we want our money we have been in this drive thru 15 minutes.  You don't have Sweet Tea and this whole thing is bad.  Bad Customer Service... Bad!!!

XYZ:  I don't think it is funny mam.

BFF:  This is not your fault but what just happened here is Bad Customer Service it is not OK.  Just Bad.

I drive off barely able to contain myself it was hilarious.  The kid's bad grammar, the manager's behavior,  the look as my BFF gave him a lecture on Customer Service.  My favorite was when she reiterated the Bad on the end not once but twice.  Almost like she was scolding a puppy.

She sure told them.

I 'm back....with gas

So much for consistency I can not believe I did not blog for a month or more.  What can I say I have so many moments to share with you all.

Like moments ago when I took an ever so brief break to walk to the Rest Room and out of no where I back fire. You know the loud pop the explodes from your hind corners.  I don't remember this happening in my twenties but in my late thirties happens a lot.

So is age that allows the body to eek out these embarrassment's?  Ha!
